Royals, Bats Extend Partnership

KANSAS CITY, MO (August 14, 2012) – The Kansas City Royals announced today a partnership extension with Lenexa-based BATS Global Markets, Inc., operator of the world’s third-largest stock exchange, through 2015.

BATS, which operates the BATS Exchanges in the U.S. as well as BATS Chi-X Europe, will remain the title sponsor of the BATS Crown Club and will continue supporting Habitat for Humanity Kansas City through the BATS 1000 Program.

As part of the extension, the interior design of the BATS  Crown Club will continue to feature a timeline which weaves important moments in financial market history, including the inception and growth of BATS, with memorable milestones in baseball and Royals history.  The BATS Crown Club offers the most exclusive premium seating option available at Kauffman Stadium, featuring dugout views and behind-the-plate access.  Complimentary food and drink is provided for guests, as well as premium parking.  The BATS Crown Club is also available for hosting events on non-game days.

“BATS is proud to renew its partnership with the Royals family, which also affords us the opportunity to continue to support the revitalization of the Kansas City area through Habitat for Humanity Kansas City,” said BATS Global Markets President and CEO Joe Ratterman. “As a Kansas City company, we’re also pleased that this unique partnership helps support the volunteer efforts of many of our employees.”

In conjunction with the Royals partnership and in recognition of the BATS 1000® Index, BATS Global Markets’ proprietary stock market benchmark, BATS will continue to donate $500 to Habitat for Humanity Kansas City each time a player bats 1.000 in any single game with a minimum two at-bats.

“As one of the pre-eminent financial companies in the world, BATS Global Markets is a great local success story,” said Michael Bucek, Royals Vice President-Marketing & Business Development.  “We’re pleased BATS will be part of the Royals family for the next several years as we continue our corporate and community partnership.”
