Cubs recall left-handed pitcher Brooks Raley

 

CINCINNATI – The Chicago Cubs today recalled left-handed pitcher Brooks Raley from Triple-A Iowa.

Raley, who wears uniform number 43, will start the second game of today’s day-night doubleheader in Cincinnati against the Reds. The first game begins at 1:10 p.m. ET while the second game starts at 7:10 p.m. ET.

Raley, 24, made his major league debut, August 7 in San Diego, after he was selected from Iowa that day. He went 0-2 with a 9.00 ERA (10 ER/10.0 IP) in two big league starts before he was optioned to Iowa, August 13.

The southpaw has combined to go 6-10 with a 3.58 ERA (52 ER/130.2 IP) in 22 minor league starts between Double-A Tennessee and Iowa this season. He was named the 2012 Cubs Minor League Pitcher of the Month for July after posting a 2.12 ERA (7 ER/29.2 IP) in five starts for Iowa. The 2.12 ERA ranked fourth-lowest among Pacific Coast League pitchers.
