OF Carlos Peguero and RHP Erasmo Ramirez added to ML roster
Mariners active roster at 27 players following today's transactions
Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jack Zduriencik announced today the following September call-ups:
- OF Carlos Peguero recalled from AAA Tacoma
- RHP Erasmo Ramirez recalled from AAA Tacoma
Peguero, 25, hit .285 (80x281) with 47 runs scored, 13 doubles, 1 triple, 21 home runs and 54 RBI in 76 games with AAA Tacoma. He currently ranks T4th amongst all Mariners farmhands with 21 home runs. Peguero has appeared in 12 games (RF - 7 GS, DH - 3 GS, LF - 1 GS) with the Mariners from July 5-30, batting .146 (6x41) with one home run and 3 RBI. Peguero was recalled from Tacoma on March 29 (while the team was in Tokyo) to replace the injured Mike Carp. He did not appear in a game in Japan, and was optioned back to Tacoma prior to the re-opening of the 2012 championship season.
Ramirez, 22, went 6-3 with a 3.72 ERA in 15 starts in two stints with AAA Tacoma this season. He has limited opponent to a .261 (81x310) average, while walking 18 and striking out 58. In two stints with the Mariners this season, March 27-May 5 and June 13-August 5, Ramirez is 0-2 with a 3.82 ERA in 11 games, 4 starts. He was on the 15-day disabled list with a right elbow flexor strain from July 1-Aug. 5, and was optioned to Tacoma after his return from the DL. Ramirez was on the Mariners Opening Day roster, and made 7 appearances out of the bullpen (2.45 ERA) before being optioned to Tacoma on May 5 (Shawn Kelley recalled).
With these roster moves, the Mariners active roster is now at 27. Peguero (#4) and Ramirez (#50) will be available for today's game vs. the Los Angeles Angels (1:05 pm PT).
