Infielder/outfielder Matt McBride recalled from Triple-A

The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has recalled infielder/outfielder Matt McBride from Triple-A Colorado Springs. McBride (#7) will be in uniform and available for tonight’s Rockies at Braves game (5:10 p.m. MDT) at Turner Field.

McBride, 27, made his Major League with Colorado on 8/4 vs. SF and appeared in nine games in his first taste of the Major Leagues. He hit .200 (4-for-20) with 1 double and 2 RBI for the Rockies in those nine games. McBride has spent the remainder of the 2012 season with Triple-A Colorado Springs and was named to the All-PCL Team in what was his first full season at the Triple-A level. In 108 games for the Sky Sox, McBride is hitting .344 (151-for-439) with 42 doubles, 6 triples, 10 home runs, 87 RBI and an OPS of .900 (.365 OBP, .535 SLG) while playing first base, left field, right field and catcher. McBride was acquired by the Rockies from Cleveland along with LHP Drew Pomeranz and RHP’s Joe Gardner and Alex White on July 31, 2011 in exchange for right-handed pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez.

The Rockies have 39 players on the 40-man roster.
