White Sox announce weekend series activities

WHAT: Chicago White Sox promotional highlights, giveaways and ceremonial first pitches for this weekend’s series vs. Kansas City.  Tickets are available at whitesox.com, the U.S. Cellular Field ticket office and all Ticketmaster locations.  Upper Reserved tickets for this weekend’s series are specially priced for as low $9.
 
The game on Friday will be televised on WCIU-TV, while FOX-TV will broadcast the game on Saturday.  Sunday’s game will be televised on Comcast SportsNet Chicago.  All three games will air on WSCR-AM 670 (The Score), the White Sox flagship radio station, and on 97.5 FM ESPN Deportes, the White Sox Spanish-language radio affiliate.

, actor and South Side native, best known for his roles in Crash, Million Dollar Baby and the HBO series Eastbound & Down will throw out a ceremonial first pitch.  Peña’s latest film, End of Watch, is in theatres on September 21.
 
Three Men in Kilts, a fan favorite traditional Irish band from Chicago’s South side, will perform a pre-game acoustic set on-field and the National Anthem for the tenth consecutive year on Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day.
 
The first 20,000 fans in attendance age 21 and over will receive a green White Sox cap, courtesy of Miller Lite.
 
After the game, fans will enjoy a spectacular fireworks show set to Irish music, presented by Miller Lite.
 
In celebration of Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day, White Sox players will wear green pinstriped jerseys.  Before the game, Sean and Charlie will entertain fans age 21 and over in the Miller Lite Bullpen Sports Bar, while the Trinity Academy of Irish Dance performs outside Gate 4.  The Pipes and Drums of the Chicago Police Department will perform outside Gate 5 and also lead a pre-game parade around the warning track (weather permitting) with fans dressed in Irish attire.
 
In addition to green beer at various concession stands, Redden’s Irish Pub will offer Irish nachos, fish and chips and a corned beef panini on the centerfield concourse.

, a central character in the Star Wars saga, will throw out a ceremonial first pitch.  
 
John Vincent from Chicago will perform the National Anthem.
 
The White Sox will donate $5 to Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C) – a program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) nonprofit organization that raises funds to accelerate innovative cancer research – for each Star Wars ticket package sold, which can be purchased at whitesox.com/starwars.
 
Before the game, fans dressed in Star Wars attire can participate in a pre-game parade around the warning track (weather permitting).  
 
Sunday, September 9, 1:10 p.m. vs. Kansas City
Grandparent’s Day and Strike Out Stroke Day

, accompanied by her grandparents in celebration of Grandparent's Day, will perform the National Anthem.  
 
In addition to Grandparent’s Day, Sunday also is Strike Out Stroke Day, promoting awareness of the signs and symptoms of stroke.  Specially-priced tickets are available at whitesox.com/grandparents.  After the game, seniors and their grandchildren are invited on the field a special “Seniors Stroll the Bases” walk (weather permitting).
 
The game also is a throwback Sunday, where the White Sox wear red pinstriped throwback uniforms and red Sox caps, commemorating the 40th anniversary of the 1972 White Sox team.  The White Sox will wear the throwback uniforms during every Sunday home game this season.
