Red Sox activate outfielder Daniel Nava

The Boston Red Sox today activated outfielder Daniel Nava from the 15-day disabled list.  With the move, the club’s active Major League roster is at 31.

The announcement was made by Executive Vice President/General Manager Ben Cherington.

Nava has been on the disabled list since August 25 with a left wrist sprain, his second stint on the DL due to the injury having also missed 21 games from July 29-August 19.  The 29-year-old has appeared in 67 games for the Red Sox this season after being selected to the active Major League roster on May 10 and has batted .250 (51-for-204) with 17 doubles, four home runs, 27 RBI, 32 runs and 32 walks.  He also played in 29 games with Triple-A Pawtucket in 2012, including 27 to start the year and two on rehab assignment from August 19-20, batting at a .313 clip (31-for-99).  Signed by the Red Sox as a minor league free agent in January of 2008, Nava has appeared in 127 career Major League games over the 2010 and 2012 seasons, and tallied a .247 average (90-for-365) with 31 doubles, a triple, five home runs, 53 RBI, 55 runs, 51 walks and four stolen bases.
