Bill Livesey hired as Senior Advisor to the General Manager

The Pittsburgh Pirates today announced that Bill Livesey has been hired as a Senior Advisor to General Manager Neal Huntington.

Livesey, 72, most recently worked as a Professional Scout with the New York Yankees (2008-2011) after spending three seasons as a Special Assistant to the General Manager with the New York Mets.

Livesey spent 18 years with the Yankees from 1978 to 1995 and was involved in all phases of player development and scouting. He spent his last four years with the Yankees as their Vice President of Player Development and Scouting before being hired by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays as a Special Assistant the General Manager on September 25, 1995. He was also Tampa Bay’s Director of Player Personnel during his tenure with the club.

The New England native also spent time with the Toronto Blue Jays as a Special Assistant to General Manager J.P. Ricciardi in 2002 and 2003 before joining the Mets on December 3, 2003.

Livesey’s son, Jeff, was Pittsburgh’s Minor League Hitting Coordinator the last two seasons and has spent a total of 10 years in the organization.
