A’s Agree to Terms with RHP Pat Neshek on One-Year Contract

The Oakland A’s agreed to terms with right-handed pitcher Pat Neshek on a one-year contract, the club announced today.  Neshek was one of seven players on the A’s roster eligible for arbitration.

Neshek was acquired from the Baltimore Orioles organization August 3 for cash considerations after going 3-2 with 11 saves and a 2.66 ERA in 35 appearances at Triple-A Norfolk.  He then went 2-1 with a 1.37 ERA and .147 opponents batting average in 24 appearances with the A’s.  The 32-year-old right-hander held right-handed hitters to a .094 batting average and yielded a .067 average with runners in scoring position.  Neshek has spent parts of six seasons in the majors with Minnesota (2006-08, 10), San Diego (2011) and Oakland (2012).  He is 14-8 with a 3.00 ERA in 181 career relief appearances.

The remaining players on the A’s roster eligible for arbitration are Daric Barton, Jerry Blevins, George Kottaras, Brandon Moss, Adam Rosales and Seth Smith.
