Texas Rangers agree to terms with eight players on one-year contracts

Club has 25 players under contract for 2013

The Texas Rangers today announced that eight players have agreed to terms on one-year contracts for the 2013 season. No further terms were disclosed.

The eight are pitchers Jeff Beliveau, Cory Burns, Justin Grimm, Michael Kirkman, Justin Miller, Neil Ramirez, and Robbie Ross and infielder Mike Olt.

Grimm, Kirkman, Ross, and Olt each spent all or parts of the 2012 season with the Rangers. Beliveau appeared in 22 games with the Chicago Cubs a year ago and was acquired on a waiver claim on December 21. Burns pitched in 17 games with San Diego in 2012 and was acquired by trade on November 28. Miller, who missed all of 2012 after undergoing "Tommy John" surgery on his right elbow and Ramirez have no major league experience.

With the agreements, 25 of the 40 players on Texas' major league roster are under contract for 2013.

Texas will officially open its 2012 spring training camp with the first workout for pitchers and catchers on Wednesday morning in Surprise, Arizona. The team's first full workout is on Saturday.
