Cleveland Indians announce 2013 Home Opener, on April 8, is sold out

With 42 days remaining before Home Opener, fans still can secure tickets by purchasing full-season ticket packages

The Cleveland Indians 2013 Home Opener, on April 8 at 4:05 p.m. against the New York Yankees, is SOLD OUT, marking the 21st consecutive home opener sellout and the 20th at Progressive Field, which opened in 1994.

The game sold out in 6 minutes, one of the fastest sellouts in Indians history. Since the Indians in 2009 moved the public on-sale date to Spring, Opening Day sellouts have become official on March 30 (2009), April 8 (2010), March 24 (2011) and March 15 (2012), another reflection of the heightened attention for 2013.

Fans wanting to attend 2013 Opening Day -- which marks the Indians' 113th year as a charter member of the American League -- still can secure tickets by purchasing full-season ticket packages, which offer the best value and greatest savings over single-game ticket prices.

New this year for Season Ticket holders is Tribe Rewards, which offers customizable, unique benefits that include throwing a ceremonial first pitch, batting practice experiences and joining Tom Hamilton and Jim Rosenhaus in the radio booth, among other opportunities.

Season Ticket holders also can utilize FanPass paperless ticketing, which provides more savings and allows ticket buyers to easily and securely manage and distribute tickets online and use their credit cards as entry into the ballpark.

Indians will host select-a-seat event Saturday, March 16

For fans interested in season, group or party-area tickets for the 2013 season, the Indians will hold a select-a-seat event at Progressive Field on Saturday, March 16. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and offers fans the ability to test drive available seats and an autographed Indians player photo for every season or group ticket purchase.

Seats still are available for the remainder of the Indians' first homestand, which continues with three games against the Yankees April 9-11 at 7:05 p.m., three against the Chicago White Sox (April 12, 7:05 p.m.; April 13, 4:05 p.m.; April 14, 1:05 p.m.) and three against the Boston Red Sox (April 16-18, 7:05 p.m.).
