Atlanta Braves Executive Vice President Mike Plant chosen to assist U.S. Speed Skating Federation

It was announced earlier this week that Mike Plant, the Atlanta Braves Executive Vice President of Business Operations, will assist the United States Speed Skating Federation as their President on an interim basis.  Plant will continue in his role with the Braves.

"When Mike approached us about accepting this invitation from the United States Speed Skating Federation to serve in this interim volunteer position, we were of course supportive," said Braves President John Schuerholz.  "We are completely confident this will not at all diminish Mike's ability or his focus on continuing  to do his outstanding work for the Atlanta Braves. "

Plant was a member of the 1980 U.S. Olympic Speed Skating team in Lake Placid, NY and a six-time member of the U.S. World Championship speed skating teams.  He has been with the Atlanta Braves since 2003 and before that was a long time executive with Turner Sports in a variety of roles.

The Braves begin their season at home on Monday, April 1 vs. the Philadelphia Phillies.
