A's RHP Fernando Rodriguez Has Successful UCL Surgery

OAKLAND, Calif. - Oakland A's right-handed pitcher Fernando Rodriguez had successful UCL reconstruction surgery yesterday, the club announced today.  The procedure was performed by Dr. Thomas Mehlhoff at the Texas Orthopedic Hospital in Houston, Texas.  The surgery had no complications and Rodriguez will be rejoining the A's on Saturday to begin his rehabilitation process.

Rodriguez was acquired from the Houston Astros February 4, 2013 along with Jed Lowrie for Chris Carter, Brad Peacock and minor leaguer Max Stassi.  He appeared in four spring training games with the A's, compiling a 10.13 ERA before he was shut down after an appearance on March 11.  Rodriguez was added to the 60-day disabled list last Saturday.
