Gavin Floyd to undergo season-ending surgery

Chicago White Sox right-handed pitcher Gavin Floyd will undergo season-ending surgery tomorrow in New York City to repair the ulnar collateral ligament and a torn flexor muscle in his elbow.

The surgery will be performed by Dr. David Altchek at the Hospital for Special Surgery. Expected recovery time for Floyd, 30, is approximately 14-19 months.

Floyd went 0-4 with a 5.18 ERA (14 ER/24.1 IP) in five starts with the White Sox this season. He left his last start on April 27 vs. Tampa Bay after 2.2 IP and was placed on the 15-day disabled list on April 28.
