D-backs celebrate Mother's Day this Sunday

PHOENIX - The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) encourage fans to treat mom to a special Mother's Day game this Sunday at 1:10 p.m. at Chase Field. The D-backs will give away a Mother's Day Tote Bag, presented by Diet Pepsi, and a free copy of Raising Arizona Kids magazine to 5,000 moms at the game. In addition, D-backs players will wear pink-themed items in support of breast cancer awareness and a portion of group ticket sales will benefit Komen for the Cure.

Valley resident and mother to three boys, Leah Kelly, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Kelly won the opportunity through the Pepsi Most Valuable Mom contest via Arizona Sports 620 and will also receive six tickets to the game and a family photo on the field. 

The D-backs will recognize Arizona resident and mother to three boys, Tracie Stratton, as the 2013 Honorary Bat Girl for the D-backs vs. Phillies game in a special pregame ceremony on the field. Stratton continues to battle breast cancer and was selected by Major League Baseball after receiving a submission by Stratton's sister as part of the annual contest led by MLB which honors breast cancer survivors at all 30 teams.

The Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation and Pepsi will sell "Iback" posters for $1 in which fans are encouraged to write in a name of someone they know has been affected by breast cancer and hold it up during the sixth inning to show support of breast cancer awareness. Money raised from the poster sales will benefit breast cancer awareness. In addition, the D-backs Team Shop will sell special pink-stamped baseballs in which $1 from each ball sold will be donated to Major League Baseball Charities in support of the fight against breast cancer. The pink-stamped baseballs will be used as the official game ball for May 12.

The D-backs will also recognize stroke survivor and mother of three, Lori Vober, in a special pre-game ceremony on the field in support of Stroke Awareness Month. Ten years ago, at age 29, she suffered a stroke caused by a serious neurological disorder and recently adopted three kids from Colombia, which will be their first professional baseball game experience. Vober is still being treated at Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center by Dr. Christina Kwasnica. 

The D-backs will auction off special pink game-used baseballs at section 107 and Insight Diamond Level Auction Alley locations at Chase Field during the game as well as online at www.dbacks.com/auctions.

Every D-backs Sunday game offers great deals for families, and the Mother's Day game is no exception. Kids get in free on Sundays when they sign up for the No Chew Crew at www.dbacks.com/nochewcrew. Kids can also run the bases after every Sunday home game.
