Pirates Roster Moves

The Pittsburgh Pirates today selected the contract of left-handed pitcher Mike Zagurski from Triple-A Indianapolis. To make room for Zagurski on the 40-man roster, the Pirates have transferred pitcher Jeff Karstens from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list. To make room for Zagurski on the 25-man active roster, pitcher Bryan Morris has been optioned to Triple-A.

The Pirates have also recalled infielder Josh Harrison from Indianapolis. To make room for Harrison on the 25-man active roster, outfielder Jose Tabata has been placed on the 15-day disabled list (retro to May 25) with a left oblique strain.

Zagurski went 1-0 with one save, a 2.14 ERA (21.0ip/5er) and 37 strikeouts in 19 relief appearances this season with Indianapolis. At the time of his promotion to Pittsburgh, Zagurski's 15.86 strikeouts per 9.0 innings pitched ranked first among all International League relievers. Zagurski will wear uniform #57.

This is Harrison's third stint with the Pirates this season. Prior to being recalled today, he hit .279 with 17 RBI in 35 games with Indianapolis.
