Dodgers place Carl Crawford on disabled list; recall Stephen Fife

Fife to start tonight's game against Padres

LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Dodgers today placed outfielder Carl Crawford on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to June 2) with a left hamstring strain and recalled right-hander Stephen Fife from Triple-A Albuquerque. Fife will make tonight's start against the Padres in place of Chris Capuano.

Fife has made one start for Los Angeles this season, allowing four runs in 4.2 innings in a no-decision on April 21 at Baltimore, before being placed on the disabled list with right shoulder bursitis. Fife last pitched in a rehab start for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on May 28 against Lancaster and allowed four runs (three earned) in 4.0 innings in a loss before being reinstated from the DL on May 30 and optioned to Albuquerque. The 26-year-old went 1-1 with a 4.61 ERA in three starts for the Isotopes this season.

Crawford was batting .301 with nine steals, five home runs and 13 RBI in 51 games this year before injuring himself in Saturday's game at Colorado.
