Arlington, Texas- The Texas Rangers selected 30 players today in the final day of the 2013 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, which included rounds 11 through 40.

The Rangers selected 41 players overall in this year's draft. The 41 players include 27 pitchers (20 right-handed, 7 left-handed), 6 outfielders, 4 infielders, and 4 catchers. Texas selected 26 college players and made 15 high school picks. Some notable Rangers picks on the final day of the draft:

  • In the 18th round, club selected right-handed pitcher David Gates from Howard College in Big Spring, TX. Gates was rated the 2nd-best junior college prospect by Baseball America in the publication's season preview. The right-hander graduated from Midland Christian High School.
  • 19th-round selection Joseph Ledbetter from Cedarville University is the twin brother of 3rd round selection David Ledbetter. The brothers are the first two players ever drafted from Cedarville.
  • Selected left-handed pitcher Luis Pollorena out of Mississippi State University. Pollorena graduated from United High School in Laredo, TX, where he was a 2-time Texas Class 5A All-State performer.
  • In the 24th round, Texas selected OF Darryn Sheppard from John Foster Dulles HS in Sugar Land, TX. Sheppard and Dulles played in the Texas 5A State Championship game today at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock, with Sheppard hitting a home run in that contest. He has committed to Baylor.
  • Tabbed Kennesaw State University's RHP Travis Dean with its 26th round selection. The club chose Dean in the 22nd round last season.
  • Selected shortstop Sheldon Neuse from Fossil Ridge High School in Keller, TX in the 38th round. Neuse has committed to the University of Oklahoma.
