A's recall C Stephen Vogt from Triple-A Sacramento
OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland A's recalled catcher Stephen Vogt from Triple-A Sacramento, the club announced today.
Vogt was acquired from Tampa Bay April 5 for a player to be named later or cash and was batting .325 with nine home runs and 43 RBI in 58 games with Triple-A Sacramento. He ranks eighth in the Pacific Coast League in batting average and slugging percentage (.541). The 28-year-old left-handed hitter batted .438 in April, .228 in May and is currently hitting .306 in June. Vogt appeared exclusively at catcher on defense where he tossed out 19 of 47 (40.4%) attempted base stealers, which is the third best mark in the PCL. He made his Major League debut with Tampa Bay last year and went 0 for 25 with two walks in 18 games.
