Twins Place Willingham on 15-day Disabled List

Hicks Activated from Disabled List

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed outfielder Josh Willingham on the 15-day disabled list with a medial meniscus tear and bone bruise in his left knee (retroactive to July 1). Willingham experienced increased discomfort in the knee prior to last night's game with the Yankees and was scratched from the lineup.

To replace Willingham on the 25-man roster, the Twins have returned outfielder Aaron Hicks from his rehab assignment at Triple-A Rochester and reinstated him from the 15-day disabled list. In six games with the Red Wings, Hicks went 4-for-21 (.190) with two RBI and two walks. He was originally placed on the disabled list June 10 with a hamstring strain and missed 19 games.
