Dodgers place Matt Kemp on 15-day disabled list; recall Scott Van Slyke from Triple-A Albuquerque

LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Dodgers today placed outfielder Matt Kemp on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to July 6) with left AC joint inflammation and recalled outfielder Scott Van Slyke from Triple-A Albuquerque. In 27 games for the Dodgers this season, Van Slyke batted .236 with six home runs and 13 RBI, with 12 of his 17 hits going for extra bases. The 27-year-old was optioned to Albuquerque last Friday, but did not appear in a game for the Isotopes.

Kemp was batting .254 with four homers and 24 RBI in 61 games for the club this season. Earlier this year, the 28-year-old missed 24 games on the 15-day disabled list from May 30-June 25 with a right hamstring strain.
