White Sox reinstate Jake Peavy from disabled list

CHICAGO – Prior to tonight’s game vs. Atlanta, the Chicago White Sox returned right-handed pitcher Jake Peavy from his injury rehabilitation assignment with Class AA Birmingham and returned the right-hander from the disabled list.

Peavy, 32, is scheduled to start tomorrow’s game (3:05 p.m. CT) vs. the Braves.

Peavy has been on the disabled list since June 6 (retroactive to June 5) with a fracture of the left fourth anterior rib. He left his start on June 4 at Seattle after 2.1 IP due to the injury.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder earned the win in his only rehabilitation start with Birmingham on July 14 at Huntsville, allowing one run on five hits with four strikeouts and two walks over 5.0 IP.

Peavy is 6-4 with a 4.30 ERA (32 ER/67.0 IP) and 66 strikeouts over 11 starts (seven quality) with the White Sox this season.
