Matt Holliday activated from disabled list

Brock Peterson optioned to Memphis (AAA)

The Cardinals have activated outfielder Matt Holliday from the 15-day disabled list today and optioned outfielder Brock Peterson to Memphis (AAA). Holliday was placed on the disabled list on July 20, retroactive to July 12, with a strained right hamstring. He came out of the game with the injury on July 12 at Chicago Cubs after running out a ball to first base.

Peterson was purchased from Memphis on July 20, and made his Major League debut that night vs. San Diego, picking up his first RBI with a ground out. He collected his first Major League hit on July 24 vs. Philadelphia off Jake Diekman.
