Blue Jays activate Sergio Santos

RHP Dustin McGowan to disabled list

The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have returned RHP SERGIO SANTOS from his medical rehabilitation assignment with the Buffalo Bisons of the International League (AAA) and have activated him from the 60-day disabled list. RHP DUSTIN McGOWAN has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right oblique strain, to make room on the 40-man roster RHP BRANDON MORROW has been transferred to the the 60-day disabled list.

SANTOS, 30, appeared in five games this season with Toronto posting a 0-1 record with a 2.08 ERA before being placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right triceps strain on April 14. He then had surgery on this right elbow to remove bone spurs. In 12 rehabilitation appearances this season, the 6-3, 240lb. right-handed pitcher was 0-0 with a 6.17 ERA while pitching for the Gulf Coast League Blue Jays, the Dunedin Blue Jays of the Florida State League (A) and the Buffalo Bisons. 

McGOWAN, 31, has appeared in 16 games this season without recording a decision while posting a 2.12 ERA.
