The Tigers return home from a ten-game road trip as they face division rivals Kansas City Royals and Minnesota Twins during an eight-game homestand at Comerica Park. The Royals (August 15-18) make their second trip of the season to Comerica Park with a five-game series, and the homestand concludes with three games against the Twins (August 20-22). Thursday's game against the Royals begins at 7:08 p.m., while first pitches for the split doubleheader on Friday will be at 1:08 p.m. and 7:08 p.m. Saturday's game will begin at 7:08 p.m. and the series with the Royals concludes at 1:08 p.m. on Sunday. Tuesday and Wednesday's contests against the Twins will begin at 7:08 p.m. and the homestand ends with Thursday's game at 1:08 p.m.

Thursday, August 15 - Kansas City Royals @ 7:08 p.m. (Probables: Sanchez vs. Guthrie) Gates open at 5:30 p.m.

· The national anthem will be performed by Marnell Kenan, winner of the 2013 Detroit Stars Singing Competition. Marnell won the opportunity to sing the anthem during the Tigers annual Negro Leagues Weekend celebration.
· Detroit Tigers Hometown Championship pre-game ceremony: As a part of the Play Baseball Detroit Program, the Detroit Tigers hosted the 2013 Detroit Tigers Hometown Championship earlier this summer for children ages 8-19. The Tigers will recognize the seven winning teams from the 19^th annual tournament on the field, and more than 1,300 of the Hometown Championship participants will be present in the outfield for the annual ceremony.  
· Shining Star Award Recognition: The Michigan Department of State will present the Detroit Tigers with its Shining Star Award for their dedication and efforts in the area of organ, tissue and eye donor awareness. The Detroit Tigers were nominated for the award by the Gift of Life program for their long-standing partnership.

· NASCAR driver, Brad Keselowski will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
· Game Ball Delivery: Specialist Jarrod Johnston of the United States Army from Holly, Michigan will deliver the game ball. Specialist Johnston recently returned from Afghanistan where he earned two Army Commendation Medals, an Army Achievement Medal, a Combat Infantry Badge and a Purple Heart. He has proudly served his country for more than two years.
· Friday Night Fireworks, courtesy of Pepsi and Meijer, weather permitting.
· Detroit Tigers 50/50 Charity Raffle: The Detroit Tigers Foundation 50/50 Charity Raffle continues at Comerica Park this season at every Friday and Saturday home game. The partner charity for this weekend's 50/50 raffle is the American Diabetes Association. The mission of the American Diabetes Association is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. 50/50 Charity Raffle volunteers are stationed throughout the ballpark in their orange 50/50 Raffle aprons, at entry gates and at the 50/50 raffle table near gate To date, the 2013 50/50 Charity Raffle program has raised $106,876.50 for charity with the single largest one-game prize this season being $10,780.

Saturday, August 17 - Kansas City Royals @ 7:08 p.m. (Probables: Fister vs. Davis) Gates open at 5:30 p.m.

· The ceremonial first pitch will be thrown out by NASCAR driver, Kasey Kahne and Scott's Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run (PHR) national champion for the 13-14 year-old girls division, Laura Farnsworth of Frankenmuth, Michigan.
· PLAY Campaign Clinic: Prior to the game, Tigers Head Athletic Trainer Kevin Rand and his staff will host 100 children from Play Baseball Detroit for the PLAY (Promoting a Lifetime of Activity among Youth) clinic at Comerica Park, as part of the league-wide initiative to encourage children to stay active and maintain a healthy lifestyle. The event will feature a discussion about the dangers of using steroids and performance enhancing substances led by the Taylor Hooton Foundation and four rotating stations, including one with the Henry Schein Cares Foundation featuring a lesson on healthy living. Tigers player, Matt Tuiasosopo will also be on-hand to share how they maintain an active lifestyle year round.
· Game Ball Delivery: Staff Sergeant Christopher Nuyen of the United States Army from Kalamazoo, Michigan will deliver the game ball. Staff Sergeant Nuyen recently returned from his third deployment, including tours in Afghanistan and Iraq as a parachutist. He has earned the Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge and is a member of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club. Staff Sergeant Nuyen has proudly served the Army for 27 years.
· UMPS Care: Through the BLUE Crew Tickets program, six guests will receive complimentary game tickets, a Tigers cap, food and beverage vouchers, baseball themed items and a photo to remember their experience at Comerica Park. Additionally all guests are given the opportunity to meet the umpire and take a photo on the field. Participants are selected through Big Brothers Big Sisters, an organization established to strengthen children in need through one-to-one relationships with volunteer mentors. · All kids 14-and-under will receive a Back to School Pencil Set, courtesy of the Michigan State Police Internet Crimes Against Children.
· Detroit Tigers Strike out Bullying with Anti-Bullying rally: Prior to the game, the Detroit Tigers will host their first-ever anti-bullying rally in front of Gate A at Comerica Park. All kids 14-and-under will be encouraged to take a special pledge to help stop bullying in their schools, and each child who takes the pledge will receive a special Detroit Tigers Anti-Bullying wristband. According to research conducted by Bully Police USA, a watchdog organization that advocates for bullied children, one in five students in Michigan is bullied. As a result, the Tigers launched the "Strikeout Bullying" campaign to help combat bullying in our schools.

Tuesday, August 20 - Minnesota Twins @ 7:08 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.

· Scherzer's Superstars: Each Tuesday home game, Tigers pitcher Max Scherzer invites eight young people and their mentors from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Detroit to Comerica Park to watch batting practice on the field, receive complimentary Scherzer's Superstars t-shirts and have the opportunity to meet Max before the enjoying the Tigers game. Through the program, Scherzer hopes to instill excitement in the game of baseball with the children, and thank the mentors for volunteering their time to serve as a positive role model for the Detroit community.
· Hunter's Homies: Tigers All-Star outfielder Torii Hunter has partnered with the Detroit Tigers Foundation to host deserving Tigers fans during the 2013 season. Program participants each receive a game ticket, a Hunter's Homies t-shirt and the opportunity to meet Hunter on the field during Tigers batting practice. This week, Hunter will host children and staff from Christ Child House, an intensive treatment center fully licensed by the state of Michigan that provides residential services for boys, ages five through 17 who suffer emotional, behavioral and physical impairment resulting from severe abuse and neglect.
· Buses for Baseball: The Detroit Tigers and the MLB Players Trust for Children will host the Eagle Sports Club for this year's Buses for Baseball. The day is designed to help bring inner city children to the ballpark. The Tigers will provide game tickets, bus transportation on the FOX Sports Detroit Fan Express and the opportunity to watch batting practice at Comerica Park. The MLB Players Association will provide food vouchers and the opportunity for the children to meet some Tigers players. Eagle Sports Club is a Christian-based organization that is working with children and families to revitalize neighborhood's, restore parks and encourage spiritual revival.  
· Cornerstone Schools Pre-Game Ceremony: The Tigers will host the 8th annual "Be a Tiger for Kids" event at Comerica Park. Supporters and students from Cornerstone Schools will participate in an pre-game ceremony, throw the ceremonial first pitches, perform the National Anthem, and take part in Kids Take the Field, Kids Run the Bases and other fun-filled activities. Cornerstone Schools and Cornerstone Charter Schools serve more than 1,500 children in grades pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. In a city with the lowest high school graduation rate in the country, Cornerstone students achieve a 95% high school graduation rate and 91% continue with higher learning. 100% of the proceeds from this event will support the Cornerstone Schools Association Scholarship Fund.

Wednesday, August 21 - Minnesota Twins @ 7:08 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.

· The first 10,000 fans will receive a Mickey Lolich / Anibal Sanchez "Strikeout Kings" poster, commemorating Sanchez breaking Lolich's club record for strikeouts in a game, with his 17-strikout performance on April 26^th.  
· Cabrera's Chamitos: Tigers All-Star third baseman Miguel Cabrera will invite 20 fans to Comerica Park for each remaining Wednesday home game as part of his Cabrera's Chamitos program. The group will watch batting practice from the field, receive complimentary Cabrera's Chamitos t-shirts and will have the opportunity to meet Cabrera. The group is also treated to complimentary transportation to Comerica Park by the FOX Sports Detroit Fan Express. This week Cabrera will welcome children from the Detroit Hispanic Development Corporation The Detroit Hispanic Development Corporation's mission is to make a difference by creating life-changing opportunities for youth and their families.
· Game Ball Delivery: Staff Sergeant David Starasinich of the United States Army from Port Huron, Michigan will deliver today's game ball. Staff Sergeant Starasinich recently returned from his third deployment including tours in Iraq and Afghanistan as a combat engineer. He has earned three Army Commendation Medals, two Army Achievement Medals, two Meritorious Unit Citations, an Army Good Conduct Medal, a National Defense Service Medal, an Afghanistan Campaign Medal, three Iraq Campaign Medals, a NATO Medal, a Combat Action Badge and an Expert Marksmanship Badge. Staff Sergeant Starasinich has proudly served his country for six years.  

Thursday, August 22 - Minnesota Twins @ 1:08 p.m. Gates open at 11:30 a.m.

· Back-to-School Special Edition Kids Day, presented by FOX 2 and Radio Disney. All kids 14-and-under will receive a Prince Fielder poster, courtesy of Meijer, free rides on the Fly Ball Ferris Wheel and Comerica Bank Carousel, courtesy of Kroger, face painting, and postgame Kids Run the Bases, presented by Pepsi, weather permitting. Fans can stop by the Radio Disney tent, adjacent to the Big Cat Court for beach themed activities centered on the hit Disney Channel original movie "Teen Beach Movie". Kids will have the opportunity to learn new dances, make their own leis, register to win autographed "Teen Beach Movie" merchandise, get a temporary tattoo and much more.  
· MLBPA Heart and Hustle Award Presentation: Established in 2005, the MLB Players Alumni Association created the Heart & Hustle Award to recognize the current player who demonstrates a passion for the game of baseball and best embodies the values, spirit and traditions of the game. The MLBPAA selected Don Kelly as the 2013 Tigers recipient. He will receive his award during a special pre-game ceremony from Hall of Famer, Al Kaline prior to the game
· Game Ball Delivery: Staff Sergeant Eric Hubbell of the United States Marine Corps from Jackson, Michigan will deliver today's game ball. Staff Sergeant Hubbell recently returned from deployment at Camp Bastion in Afghanistan where he served for seven months. He has been deployed four times and has served on the USS George Washington, the USS Carl Vinson, the USS Kearsarge along with numerous Marine Corps Air Stations across the United States. Staff Sergeant Eric Hubbell has proudly served his country for 19 years.  

SPECIAL INITIATIVES

Verlander's Victory for Veterans: When Justin Verlander takes the mound at Comerica Park, he strives for victory. This season, his outings on the hill take on a new meaning. For each of his home starts, Verlander will host Veterans from the John D. Dingell Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Detroit and the Veterans Affairs Ann Arbor Healthcare System. These Veterans sustained injuries or illness in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom or in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. The Veterans along with their families cheer on the Tigers from the comfort of Verlander's personal luxury suite. After serving our country, the special day provides American veterans the opportunity to enjoy a Tigers game with their family. All guests receive a Verlander's Victory for Veterans T-shirt and are welcomed on the video board during the game. Veterans also receive a personalized welcome letter from Verlander. When you see Verlander on the mound, he is not only playing for his team and Tigers fans around the world, he is also playing for America's heroes.
