White Sox players and coaches to attend Major League Baseball's Beacon Awards Luncheon

The Beacon Awards luncheon will be held on August 24 at the Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile

Chicago – Chicago White Sox players and coaches will be in attendance at Major League Baseball’s Beacon Awards Luncheon on Saturday, August 24 at the Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile.

The luncheon, which is one of the weekend events surrounding the 2013 Civil Rights Game, will pay tribute to former MLB All-Star Bo Jackson and music legend Aretha Franklin, as recipients of this year’s Beacon Awards.  Others scheduled to attend the Beacon Awards Luncheon include Hall of Famer Hank Aaron, White Sox legend and seven-time MLB All-Star Minnie Miñoso, Hall of Famer Ferguson Jenkins and MLB Educational Programming Consultant and the daughter of Hall of Famer Jackie Robinson Sharon Robinson.

Proceeds from MLB’s Beacon Awards Luncheon will benefit the Chicago Urban League and La Rabida Children’s Hospital in Chicago.
