Marlins face off against Giants, Dodgers, Rockies at Marlins Park

Homestand to feature Fireworks Friday, Saturday Spectacular, Giveaways and more

MIAMI – The Miami Marlins are set to host the San Francisco Giants (August 16 – August 18), the Los Angeles Dodgers (August 19 – August 22) and the Colorado Rockies (August 23 – August 25). The ten game homestand will feature several great promotions, special events, a concert featuring Latin artist Jerry Rivera as part of Puerto Rican Heritage Night, the Legends of Wrestling Night and much more.

The homestand begins on Friday, August 16th when the Marlins take on the Giants at 7:10 p.m. This Friday home game is Fireworks Friday presented by Heineken Light, where fans can enjoy a Fireworks Show over Marlins Park from the comfort of their seats immediately after the game.  Also on Fridays, fans can purchase the Sir Pizza 4-Pack, which includes four (4) tickets, four (4) personal Sir Pizzas and four (4) Pepsi soft drinks, all for $60 and available on every Friday night home game. 

Saturday, August 17th is game two of the three-game series against the Giants with a post-game concert on the West Plaza featuring Latin artist, Jerry Rivera, presented by BOOST Mobile in the West Plaza. The concert is part of Puerto Rican Heritage Night. This Saturday Spectacular will feature pregame entertainment on the West Plaza from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. and an autograph session with a Marlins player inside the New Era Team Store from 6:00 to 6:20 P.M. The All-You-Can-Eat Seats will also be available on Saturday Spectaculars, for just $27 in Vista Reserved or $37 in Legends Silver.  Menu items will include unlimited Kayem Beef Franks, Peanuts, Popcorn, Nachos, Pepsi soft drinks, and Aquafina water.  August 17th is also a Duffy’s Deals game, allowing fans the opportunity to purchase a game ticket and receive roundtrip transportation to the game from a Duffy’s Sports Grill location for just $40.

On August 18th at 1:10 P.M., fans are invited to celebrate Family Sunday and Billy The Marlin’s Birthday.  Billy will be joined by several of his South Florida mascot friends throughout the game.  Plus, the first 5,000 kids in attendance will receive a Marlins Messenger Bag courtesy of Office Depot. The Marlins Wives will also host Wives Back to School Drive to collect school supplies for underserved children in the South Florida community. Pregame fun will feature entertainment with Radio Disney AM 990, DJ Petey and the Marlins Energy Team. During Snapshot Sunday on the Promenade Level outside of Section 18, fans can take photos with a Marlins player from 12 p.m. to 12:20 p.m. Post-game entertainment will include Diamond Dash where all kids 12 and under can run the bases.  On all Family Sundays, fans can pick up the Pepsi 4-for-$54 Pack ,which includes four (4) tickets, four (4) Kayem Beef Franks and four (4) Pepsi soft drinks, starting at just $54.  The Seminole Boosters are hosting an FSU Alumni Day in The Clevelander, and for $25, FSU fans can get a Clevelander ticket, a garnet & gold Marlins cap, a free domestic draft beer and Happy Hour specials at The Clevelander at Marlins Park.

Monday, August 19th at 7:10 p.m. the Marlins start their four-game series against the Dodgers. As part South Florida Heroes Mondays presented by Outback Steakhouse,  military servicemen and women, veterans, police officers, firefighters and all local first responders with proper I.D. can claim free tickets at Marlins Park north ticket office. Fans can also take advantage of the All You Can Eat Seat Special and can purchase tickets in Legends Gold for $32 or Legends Silver for $22, which includes a ticket and “All You Can Eat” Kayem Beef Franks, Peanuts, Popcorn, Nachos, Pepsi soft drinks, and Aquafina water.

Tuesday, August 20th is game two of the four-game series against the Dodgers. Fans can take advantage of the Miami Herald Half Price Tuesday offer and get half priced tickets in Legends Silver, Baseline Reserved, Bullpen Reserved and Home Run Porch on any Tuesday home game in 2013. Offer is available online at marlins.com and at the Marlins Park Ticket Office.

Game three of four against the Dodgers will be on Wednesday, August 21st at 7:10 p.m. and kids 12 and under can eat free on Kids Eat Free Wednesday Nights.  Wednesday’s are also Chevron “Crazy 8’s” when fans can get $8 Home Run Porch tickets or $18 Home Plate Box tickets to any Wednesday home game in 2013 with the purchase of eight (8) gallons of gas or more from any South Florida Chevron station.  When filling up with gas, fans can scan the QR at participating Chevron stations to receive a coupon code for specially priced Marlins tickets. The coupon code must be entered when purchasing tickets for any 2013 Wednesday Marlins home games at Marlins.com/Chevron. Fans can also present their receipt at the Marlins Park Box Office to receive specially priced tickets.  Limit of eight (8) tickets per transaction.

Thursday, August 22st The Marlins conclude the four game series against the Dodgers at 12:40 p.m. Fans can take advantage of the WellMax Medical Centers Seniors Free Ticket Thursday where all fans 55 years and older can receive complimentary tickets to all Thursday home games, as well as Subway $5 Ticket Offer where fans can visit their local participating Subway location to receive a Marlins voucher valid for one $5 ticket. August 22nd is also The Ticket Takeover at Marlins Park, as Marc Hochman, Jonathan Zaslow, Joy Taylor and Brendan Tobin from The Ticket Miami (AM 790 & 104.3 FM) will throw out the ceremonial first pitch and engage with fans throughout the game.  As part of The Ticket Takeover, fans can purchase up to eight (8) tickets for just $5 per ticket, online at www.marlins.com/theticketmiami or at the Marlins Park Ticket Office on the day of the game.

CYSTIC FIBROSIS AWARENESS NIGHT: Join the Miami Marlins and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of South Florida to create awareness about Cystic Fibrosis on Friday, August 16th when the Marlins host the Giants.

PUBLIC AUTOGRAPH SESSION: Fans will be able to get autographs from a Marlins player from 6 P.M. - 6:20 P.M inside the New Era Team Store, accessible from the West Plaza.

BEAST MODE NIGHT: Juan Pierre invited the 2013 RBI Southeast Regional Champion Miami Marlins Juniors to the game on August 16th. The team composed of 13-15 year olds will have the opportunity to attend the game at Marlins Park, receive a food voucher and Beast Mode t-shirt, as well as attend a private meet and greet with Juan Pierre behind home plate during Marlins batting practice.

WORLD SOFTBALL LEAGUE COMPETITION: Immediately following the conclusion of the game, before the Fireworks Show, the Long Haul Bombers will compete against each other as part of their season-long tour throughout the country and various Major League Baseball ballparks. Six players will each receive 15 softballs to hit and the player who hits the most home runs will be crowned champion.

FSL SCHOLARSHIP PRESENTATION: The Marlins Foundation will host the winners of the Florida State League Scholarship Program and their families along with the President of the FSL, Chuck Murphy, at the game on August 18, 2013.  Alfredo Mesa, Executive Director of the Marlins Foundation, will present Florida State League Board Members a check for $7,500 to help fund twelve $1,500 scholarships for the 2013-2014 school year.  Over the last fourteen seasons The Marlins Foundation has donated over $110,000 to this program. 

WIVES BACK TO SCHOOL DRIVE: The players’ wives have teamed up with the Marlins to collect school supplies and donate them to underserved children within the South Florida community.

Diamond Dash:  After every Marlins Family Sunday, kids 12 and under get to run the bases on the field in the Marlins Diamond Dash. We ask that children do not slide at any base or Home Plate for their own safety.  Billy’s Bunch kids club members can present their 2012 membership card in order to move up to the Diamond Dash Fast Lane.

BILLY THE MARLIN’S 21ST BIRTHDAY: Billy the Marlin will be celebrating his 21st birthday and several of Billy’s friends will be invited to the game.

LETTERS TO THE TROOPS / SAVANNAH’S SOLDIERS: The Marlins are partnering with Savannah’s Soldiers in bringing back the Letter’s to the Troops campaign. Marlins outfielder Chris Coghlan encourages fans to visit section 16 throughout the game and participate in the letter writing campaign thanking our service men and women.

Savannah’s Soldiers is a letter writing campaign started by grade school student Savannah Madison. They collect letters from kids across America and continue to send them to brave men and woman all year long until they all come home.

SPIRIT OF ‘45: The Marlins will be joining other MLB clubs around baseball in celebrating the 68th anniversary of the end of WWII. We will be honoring the “greatest generation” and baseball’s own proud WWII heritage. The event will take place prior to the game on the West Plaza of Marlins Park as well as an in game tribute video.

ALL FOR ONE & DUNN FOR ALL: Mike Dunn has donated 10 tickets to children from the Little Warrior Project who will have the opportunity to attend a game at Marlins Park, receive a food voucher and an “All For One & Dunn For All” t-shirt, as well as attend a private meet and greet with Mike Dunn on-field during Marlins batting practice.The Little Warrior Project was founded to provide military children with direct programs specifically designed for their unique needs. HEART HEALTH AWARENESS NIGHT: On August 20, 2012 Marlins Bullpen Catcher Jeff Urgelles helped to save the life of an Arizona Diamondbacks employee by giving her CPR after she collapsed with a heart attack. Since then Jeff has partnered with American Heart Association to bring awareness of heart health and CPR training to the South Florida Community. Join the Miami Marlins, Jeff Urgelles and the American Heart Association of South Florida in bringing awareness of the importance of heart health to Marlins Park. A special on field presentation will be given to Jeff on behalf of the American Heart Association. There will be blood pressure screenings on the promenade level, and the 50/50 Raffle will benefit Jeff’s program, Compression for Life, which was created to teach heart health and CPR training to the youth of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami Dade.

NATIONAL PITCH, HIT & RUN CHAMPION: REBECKA MELLOR: The Miami Marlins will be recognizing Rebecka Mellor from Nokomis, FL for being crowned champion in the 9 & 10 year old division of the Pitch, Hit & Run finals held at Citi Field during the All-Star game last month. Rebecka advanced from the team competitions held at Marlins Park after advancing through three previous rounds for the opportunity to represent the Miami Marlins at the national level.

Pitch, Hit & Run (PHR) invites youth to demonstrate their skills by competing in pitching, hitting and running competitions. PHR participants can advance through four levels of competition, beginning at the local level, which can be hosted by organizations, leagues, or volunteers within a community, and continuing through sectional and team competitions. All 30 MLB Clubs hosted team championships at their ballparks on weekends from June 1 through June 30. The top three competitors nationwide from each age group (7-­8, 9-­10, 11-­12 and 13-­14) in both baseball and softball divisions advanced to the 2013 Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run presented by Scotts National Finals.

STATE FARM “PITCH IN” AWARD PRESENTED TO MIAMI CHILDREN’S MUSEUM: Prior to the Sunday, August 25th, Marlins vs.  Rockies game, the Marlins and State Farm will recognize Miami Children’s Museum for their commitment and support to the local community. State Farm will present Miami Children’s Museum with their award in a special, pre-game, on-field ceremony. Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there.

MIAMI CHILDREN’S MUSEUM CHARITY PARTNER DAY: The Miami Marlins named four local nonprofit organizations as Charity Partners for their 2013 Season. During the season each charity will host a day at the ballpark, where they will share their all of their great work they are doing South Florida community. Fans also have the opportunity to participate in silent auctions and raffles benefiting the Charity Partner. An online ticket special is available, where supporters can purchase tickets for the game where part of the proceeds benefit the charity. The third Charity Partner Day is Miami Children’s Museum on Sunday, August 25.
