Every game counts as the Tigers take on the Oakland Athletics and Cleveland Indians during a seven-game homestand

The Tigers return home from a quick three-game road trip to begin a seven-game homestand against the Oakland Athletics and Cleveland Indians. The Oakland Athletics make their only trip of the season to Comerica Park for a 2012 ALDS rematch (August 26-29) with a four-game series, and the homestand concludes with three games against the Cleveland Indians (August 30-September 1). Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday's games against the Athletics begin at 7:08 p.m. and the series concludes with a 1:08 p.m. game on Thursday. Friday and Saturday's games against the Indians begin at 7:08 and the homestand ends with a 1:08 p.m. game on Sunday.

·  MVP Program: Each Monday home game during the 2013 season, Tigers broadcaster, Mario Impemba invites 20 veterans from earlier conflicts to come down to the ballpark on the FOX Sports Detroit Fan Express and enjoy a Tigers game. Each veteran is given a special "MVP" t-shirt, game ticket and food voucher thanks to Mario Impemba and the Detroit Tigers.  

Tuesday, August 27 vs. Oakland Athletics @ 7:08 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.

· The first 10,000 fans will receive a Tigers pitchers "K" Floppy Hat, courtesy of National Coney Island.
·  Scherzer's Superstars: Each Tuesday home game, Tigers pitcher Max Scherzer invites eight young people and their mentors from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Detroit to Comerica Park to watch batting practice on the field, receive complimentary Scherzer's Superstars t-shirts and have the opportunity to meet Max before the enjoying the Tigers game. Through the program, Scherzer hopes to instill excitement in the game of baseball with the children, and thank the mentors for volunteering their time to serve as a positive role model for the Detroit community.
·  Pennies for Paws Check Presentation: Since April, 2008 the Detroit Tigers have worked diligently to help save their namesake through the Pennies for Paws program, in cooperation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The Tigers encourage fans to donate at the Pennies for Paws bank located at Gate A at Comerica Park and by buying a special 'Save the Tigers' Stamp. The program has raised more than $53,000 to date. Karie Ross, wife of Tigers President, CEO and General Manager, David Dombrowski will present a $10,000 check to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Wildlife Without Borders program in a special pre-game ceremony celebrating tiger conservation.

Wednesday, August 28 vs. Oakland Athletics @ 7:08 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.  
·  SpongeBob SquarePants Day: If you wished you lived in a pineapple under the sea, then join the Tigers, in collaboration with Nickelodeon as they host SpongeBob SquarePants at the ballpark! Fans will have the opportunity to meet SpongeBob, and all kids 14-and-under will receive a special SpongeBob SquarePants/Detroit Tigers wristband, courtesy of Nickelodeon.
·  Cabrera's Chamitos: Tigers All-Star third baseman Miguel Cabrera will invite 20 fans to Comerica Park for each Wednesday home game as part of his Cabrera's Chamitos program. The group will watch batting practice from the field, receive complimentary Cabrera's Chamitos t-shirts and will have the opportunity to meet Cabrera. The group is also treated to complimentary transportation to Comerica Park by the FOX Sports Detroit Fan Express. This week Cabrera will welcome children from the Miracle League of Michigan. The Miracle League of Michigan provides children with mental or physical disabilities the opportunity to play baseball on a team with their peers. Cabrera participated in a special clinic with children from the Miracle League of Michigan at their field in Southfield on Saturday, August 17.
·  PLAY Baseball Detroit Day: Each year, the Tigers host a special pregame ceremony for participants of the club's Play Baseball Detroit programs, including Team Tigers, Tiny Tigers, Baseball FUNdamentals and the Detroit Tigers Hometown Championship, to recognize and honor them for their participation in youth baseball and softball leagues throughout the summer. "Play Baseball Detroit" is a comprehensive urban youth baseball outreach program dedicated to encouraging and supporting youth baseball and softball programs in the greater Detroit region. The program features equipment collections, school rallies, youth clinics and a competitive tournament to encourage and develop the region's young athletes into the baseball stars of tomorrow. Launched in 2008 with the financial assistance of Detroit Tigers players, the program continues to be funded by the Detroit Tigers Foundation. Tigers All-Star outfielder, Torii Hunter is scheduled to participate in the ceremony as the Tigers honor Darryl Smith from the Incredible Baseball Academy as the 2013 Team Tigers Coach of the Year and Sam Crowder of the Barney McCoskey Youth Baseball League as the 2013 Champions Award Winner for his longstanding dedication and impact on the game of baseball.

Thursday, August 29 vs. Oakland Athletics @ 1:08 p.m. Gates open at 11:30 a.m.  
·  Back-to-School Special Edition Kids Day, presented by FOX 2 and Radio Disney. All kids 14-and-under will receive a Miguel Cabrera Superhero poster, courtesy of Meijer, free rides on the Fly Ball Ferris Wheel and Comerica Bank Carousel, courtesy of Kroger, face painting, and postgame Kids Run the Bases, presented by Pepsi, weather permitting. Fans can stop by the Radio Disney tent, adjacent to the Big Cat Court for special activities and interactive games centered around recent episodes of the hit TV Show, Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel.  
·  Ride 2 Recovery Pregame Ceremony: The Tigers will host 20 Michigan-based Veterans for a special Ride 2 Recovery pregame ceremony. Ride 2 Recovery supports physical and psychological rehabilitation programs for injured veterans, featuring cycling as the core activity. From indoor spinning training at military installations to multi-day, long-distance rides, Ride 2 Recovery helps injured veterans heal through the challenge of cycling long distances using hand cycles, recumbents, tandems and traditional road bikes. Ride 2 Recovery was started in partnership with the Military and VA Volunteer Service Office to benefit mental and physical rehabilitation programs for wounded veterans and healing heroes.  
·  Game Ball Delivery: Sergeant First Class Matthew Mayer of the Army National Guard from Vicksburg, Michigan will deliver the game ball. Sergeant First Class Mayer recently returned from deployment in Afghanistan. During his career, he has been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, an Army Achievement Medal and a State Legion of Merit. Sergeant First Class Mayer has proudly served his country for 12 years.

Friday, August 30 vs. Cleveland Indians @ 7:08 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
· The first 10,000 fans will receive a Justin Verlander "Shut 'em Down" Fathead, for use on your light switch courtesy of DTE Energy.
·  DTE Energy Night: Join DTE Energy at the Big Cat Court and sign-up for a chance to win Tigers merchandise from some of your favorite Tigers. Fans will also be able to learn more about DTE Energy's Green Currents, BioGreen Gas, and Home Protection Plus programs, and can also sign up for a free Home Energy Consultation.
·  Game Ball Delivery: Captain Johnathon Patten of the United States Army from Oakland, Michigan will deliver the game ball. Captain Patten recently returned from his second tour of duty in Afghanistan where he served as an infantry officer. Captain Patten has proudly served his country for the last six years.
·  Friday Night Fireworks, courtesy of Pepsi and Meijer, weather permitting.
·  Detroit Tigers Foundation 50/50 Raffle: The Detroit Tigers Foundation 50/50 Charity Raffle continues at Comerica Park this season at every Friday and Saturday home game. The partner charity for this weekend's 50/50 raffle is the North Star Reach Foundation. As a provisional member of the SeriousFun Children's Network founded by Paul Newman, the year-round camp serves children with chronic and life-threatening health challenges, free of charge. 50/50 Charity Raffle volunteers are stationed throughout the ballpark in their orange 50/50 Raffle aprons, at entry gates and at the 50/50 raffle table near Gate A. To date, the 2013 50/50 Charity Raffle program has raised $123,526.50 for charity with the single largest one-game prize this season being $10,780.  

Saturday, August 31 vs. Cleveland Indians @ 7:08 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
·  Motown Night: On Saturday, the Tigers will celebrate the music that put Detroit on the map with Motown Night. Enjoy live music from renowned Detroit-based R&B group Serieux and other performers as the Tigers pay tribute to the timeless Motown sound. All in-game music, and the post-game fireworks show will feature all of the classics of Motown, presented by 104.3 WOMC.

·  Game Ball Delivery: Sergeant Major Richard F. McDonald of the United States Army from Marine City, Michigan will deliver the game ball. Sergeant Major McDonald recently returned from his second tour of duty in Afghanistan and has also served in Bosnia, Germany and Hungary. He has earned four Army Commendation Medals, three Meritous Service Medals, Five Army Achievement Medals, a NATO Medal and a Bronze Star. Sergeant Major has proudly served his country for 34 years.

Sunday, September 1 vs. Cleveland Indians @ 1:08 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
· All kids 14-and-under will receive a Back-to-School Binder, courtesy of SVS Vision.

All Sunday home games are Kids Days at Comerica Park. All kids 14-and-younger will receive a free promotional item as part of the "Every Kid, Every Sunday" giveaway guarantee, can enjoy free rides courtesy of Kroger on the Comerica Bank Carousel or the Fly Ball Ferris Wheel, can take part in free face painting, have the chance to win a bicycle and are invited down to the field for Kids Run the Bases courtesy of Aquafina and Meijer following the game, weather permitting.

SPECIAL INITIATIVES

Verlander's Victory for Veterans: When Justin Verlander takes the mound at Comerica Park, he strives for victory. This season, his outings on the hill take on a new meaning. For each of his home starts, Verlander will host Veterans from the John D. Dingell Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Detroit and the Veterans Affairs Ann Arbor Healthcare System. These Veterans sustained injuries or illness in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom or in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. The Veterans along with their families cheer on the Tigers from the comfort of Verlander's personal luxury suite. After serving our country, the special day provides American veterans the opportunity to enjoy a Tigers game with their family. All guests receive a Verlander's Victory for Veterans T-shirt and are welcomed on the video board during the game. Veterans also receive a personalized welcome letter from Verlander. When you see Verlander on the mound, he is not only playing for his team and Tigers fans around the world, he is also playing for America's heroes.
