White Sox relieve hitting coach Jeff Manto of his duties

CHICAGO - The Chicago White Sox have relieved hitting coach Jeff Manto of his duties. Assistant hitting coach Harold Baines will handle Manto's responsibilities for tomorrow's season finale vs. the Royals.

Manto, 49, was completing his second season as the club's hitting coach after being appointed to the position on October 31, 2011.

Manto joined the organization as the minor-league hitting coordinator on November 1, 2007 and worked in that role for the 2008-11 seasons.
