Mets hire Will Carafello as Director, Social Media

The New York Mets today named Will Carafello to the newly created position of Director, Social Media. Carafello will be responsible for working collaboratively across the organization to oversee the Mets social media efforts. He will report to David Newman, Senior Vice President, Marketing & Communications.
 
Prior to joining the Mets, Carafello was Director of Marketing for the New Jersey Devils. While there, Carafello was instrumental in the creation of "Mission Control," the first digital command center within the sports and entertainment industry. He successfully guided the growth of the team's social media engagement, an achievement realized via the Devils #1 Klout score in the NHL.
 
Carafello has spent over a decade in the sports and entertainment industry in marketing roles across venues, arenas and professional sports teams. Carafello was an integral part of the pioneering team that opened the Prudential Center in 2007. He has also garnered experience from roles within the Meadowlands Sports Complex (Continental Airlines Arena and Giants Stadium), and Madison Square Garden. Carafello was previously the Marketing Director for the Harlem Globetrotters.  
 
Carafello is a graduate of Seton Hall University in South Orange, N.J. Carafello and his wife Kelly recently welcomed a newborn daughter, Annaclaire. The family, including dog Homer, resides in Clifton, N.J.
