White Sox agree on Player Development extensions with Charlotte, Kannapolis and Great Falls

            LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - The Chicago White Sox have agreed on a six-year Player Development extension with Class AAA Charlotte and four-year extensions with Class A Kannapolis and Advanced Rookie Great Falls. Under terms of the agreements, Charlotte will remain a White Sox affiliate through the 2020 season, while the Kannapolis and Great Falls deals run through 2018.

The White Sox and Charlotte began their affiliation in 1999, with the Knights reaching the playoffs three times, including an International League championship in its inaugural season in the organization. In 2014, the Knights will move into brand new BB&T Ballpark, with downtown Charlotte serving as the backdrop.

Chicago began its partnership with Kannapolis in 2001, and the Intimidators captured the South Atlantic League title in 2005, the same season the White Sox ended an 88-year championship drought. Kannapolis has sent 45 players to the major leagues during its 12-year run with the Sox.

Great Falls has reached the playoffs six years in a row and eight times during its 11 seasons as a White Sox affiliate, capturing the Pioneer League title in 2008 and 2011.

"It has been the White Sox priority to maintain continuity and stability within the player development system, and this especially holds true considering our long-standing partnerships with Charlotte, Kannapolis and Great Falls," said Buddy Bell, White Sox vice president/assistant general manager.
