Indians invite 1b/of Bryan LaHair to Major League camp

The Cleveland Indians today announced the club has signed free agent 1B/OF BRYAN LaHAIR to a Minor League Contract with a non-roster invitation to Major League spring training camp.

LaHair, 31, is a veteran of three Major League seasons with Seattle (2008) and Chicago-NL (2011-12), compiling a career batting mark of .260 (139-535) with 26 doubles, 21HR and 56RBI in 195 games (.764OPS). The Worcester, MA native was a player-voted National League All-Star selection with the Cubs in 2012 after hitting .286 (66-231) prior to the '12 break (12 2B, 14HR, 30RBI, .883OPS). The left-handed hitting LaHair owns a career mark of .289 (131-453, .835OPS) against right-handed pitching and is a career .326 (14-43, .914OPS) hitter in pinch-hitting situations. He spent the 2013 season with the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks after the Japan Pacific League club purchased his rights from the Cubs following the 2012 season. He attained free agency upon his January 23 release from SoftBank.
