Nationals place OF Scott Hairston on 15-Day DL, recall 1B/OF Tyler Moore from Syracuse

The Washington Nationals today placed outfielder Scott Hairston on the 15-Day Disabled List with a left oblique strain and recalled first baseman/outfielder Tyler Moore from Syracuse of the Triple-A International League. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.

The 27-year-old Moore joins the Nationals after hitting .265 (13-for-49) with a double, home run and six RBI in 20 Grapefruit League contests for Washington. He also played in one game (Thursday, April 3 vs. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, 0-for-4) for Syracuse prior to today's promotion.

Moore is a career .241 hitter (78-for-323) with 18 doubles, 14 home runs, 50 RBI in 138 career big league games spanning two seasons (2012, '13) with Washington. He provided power and production to the 2012 Nationals by hitting 10 home runs in just 156 at-bats.

Moore, the Nationals' 2010 Minor League Player of the Year, led Washington's minor-league system in RBI each season from 2009-11.

Hairston, 33, hit .500 (1-for-2) in two games for Washington before being placed on the Disabled List.
