Pitcher - RHP, Ken Giles, Reading... 4 G… 0-0, 4-for-4 in SVO, 0.00 ERA (5.0IP) 11 SO, 2 BB 1 H… Giles has struck out 11 of the 18 total batters (61%) that he has faced this season... He is averaging 19.80 SO/9.0 IP while holding opposing hitters to a .063 AVG (1-16)… Of the 10 outs Giles recorded over his 1st 3 appearances (4/5-4/9), 9 came via strikeout… Giles, a non-roster invitee to big league camp this spring, posted a 2.08 ERA (1 ER, 4.1 IP) in 4 appearances for the Phillies during Spring Training… The 6-foot-2 right hander was selected in the 7th round of the June 2011 draft out of Yavapai College (AZ) and signed by Brad Holland.

Lehigh Valley IronPigs - International League North Division…4-7, 5th place… 4-7 for the week… RHP David Buchanan made 3 starts, going 1-0, 1.50 ERA (2 ER. 12.0 IP)… RHP Luis Garcia didn't allow a hit in 4.2 IP with 7 SO and 2 BB before his promotion to PHI… RHP Hector Neris tossed 7.0 scoreless innings of relief and picked up his 1st SV at the triple-A level… RHP Brad Lincoln didn't allow a run in 4.0 innings during his sole relief appearance… C Cameron Rupp belted 4 HR in LV's 1st 5 games to begin the season… Rupp currently leads the organization in HR… OF Clete Thomas, who has reached base in 10 of 11 games thus far, leads LV with 11 H and 2 SB… RHP Seth Rosin is back in the Phillies system after being taken in the Rule 5 Draft by LAD, before being claimed by TEX and then finally returned to PHI.
Reading Fightin Phils - Eastern League Eastern Division…7-3, T-1st place… 7-3 for the week… POTW Cam Perkins leads the organization with 16 hits and is batting .432 (16-37), 7 2B, 3B… Perkins leads the Eastern League in 2B, ranks 2nd in batting and total bases (25)… INF/OF Cesar Hernandez batted .538 (7-13) since being transferred from PHI to REA… INF/OF Brock Stassi batted .375 (9-24), 2B, 3B, HR… OF Anthony Hewitt hit a walk-off RBI single on 4/8 vs New Hampshire… RHP Ken Giles converted all 4 of his SV opportunities and leads the Eastern League in that category… Giles struck out 11 of the 18 batters he faced (61%) while holding opponents to a .063 AVG (1-16)… Reigning Paul Owens Award winner RHP Severino Gonzalez picked up right where he left off last season as he made 2 starts going 1-0, 1.50 ERA (2 ER, 12.0 IP), BB, 7 SO… LHP Jay Johnson picked up 1 SV over 4 scoreless appearances… LHP Hoby Milner posted a 1.86 ERA (2 ER, 9.2 IP) over his 1st 2 starts at the double-A level… Milner had to be removed from his 2nd start after being hit on his pitching hand… LHP Austin Wright tossed 4.1 scoreless innings in relief.
Clearwater Threshers - Florida State League North Division… 1-9, 6th place… 1-9 for the week… INF KC Serna had a hit in 5 straight games (4/8-4/12) as he hit .367 (11-30) with 4 2B during the week… OF Peter Lavin batted .324 (12-37), 2 2B, HR… OF Brian Pointer batted .320 (8-25), 2 2B, 2 3B… LHP Ethan Stewart has yet to allow an ER in 2 starts (11.2 IP)… LHP Lino Martinez made 2 relief appearances, going 5.1 IP, 0 ER, BB, 6 SO… RHP Jordan Guth made 2 scoreless appearances as he tossed 3.0 hitless innings… RHP Colton Murray, who picked up CLR's lone win, 4/4 vs Dunedin, made 3 relief appearances during the week (3 G, 4.0 IP, 0 ER, 2 H, BB, 5 SO)… RHP's Kevin Walter and Chris Burgess each made 2 scoreless appearances.
