White Sox reinstate Gordon Beckham from 15-day disabled list
DETROIT - Prior to today's game at Detroit, the Chicago White Sox returned second baseman Gordon Beckham from his injury rehabilitation assignment at Class AA Birmingham and reinstated him from the 15-day disabled list.
Beckham, 27, takes the roster spot of left-handed pitcher Charlie Leesman, who was optioned to Class AAA Charlotte following last night's game. He opened the season on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left oblique and appeared in 12 games with Birmingham on his rehab assignment.
Beckham hit .267 (99-371) with five homers, 24 RBI and 49 runs scored in 103 games in 2013, his fifth season with the White Sox.
