Nick Franklin Recalled from AAA Tacoma

Corey Hart placed on 15-day disabled list with left hamstring strain.

ARLINGTON, Texas - Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jack Zduriencik announced the following roster moves today:

  •        Corey Hart, DH, placed on 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring (retro to May 19).
  •        Nick Franklin, INF/OF, recalled from AAA Tacoma.

Franklin (#6) will be in uniform for tonight's game vs. the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Park (7:05 pm CT/5:05 pm PT).

Hart, 32, was removed from Sunday's game vs. the Minnesota Twins with a strained left hamstring. He was evaluated by Mariners Medical Director Dr. Edward Khalfayan yesterday in Seattle, where he was diagnosed with a grade 2 hamstring strain. In 37 games this season Hart was batting .209 (29x139) with 5 doubles, 5 home runs and 17 RBI. He missed the entire 2013 season after undergoing a pair of knee surgeries.

Franklin, 23, will be joining the Marines for the second time this season. He went 2-for-16 (.125) in 7 games April 16-23. In 30 games with the Tacoma Rainiers he was batting .376 (41x109) with 21 runs scored, 7 doubles, 7 home runs and 26 RBI. In 19 games since rejoining Tacoma, Franklin batted .364 (24x66) with 12 runs, 4 doubles, 3 home runs, 13 RBI and 17 walks (1.049 OPS).
