Pirates and ROOT SPORTS Partner to Host Seventh Annual "Pirates Charities on ROOT SPORTS Auction."

Auction Proceeds to Benefit Pirates Charities and Veteran Organizations

The Pittsburgh Pirates and Pirates Charities announced, in conjunction with ROOT SPORTS, the seventh annual "Pirates Charities on ROOT SPORTS Auction" is scheduled for Tuesday, June 10 when the Pirates host the Chicago Cubs at 7:05 p.m.

ROOT SPORTS will broadcast this year's on-air auction during the game live from the Rivertowne Brewing Hall of Fame Club inside PNC Park. A phone bank-- which will be staffed by Players' wives and Front Office personnel -- will be stationed inside the Rivertowne Brewing Hall of Fame Club to take live orders for VIP and VIP Plus bags. Last season fans all across the country joined to support the auction that raised more than $400,000.

All proceeds from this year's auction will go to Pirates Charities and three non-profit organizations that assist returning service men and women in Western Pennsylvania. The service organizations benefitting from the 2014 auction are the Wounded Warrior Project, Veterans Leadership Program of Western Pennsylvania Inc., and Operation Troop Appreciation.

The Tuesday, June 10 game is also Military Appreciation Night at PNC Park, presented by GovX.com. The Pirates will host members of the military, veterans and their families as more than 10,000 free tickets were distributed to this deserving group in advance of this night. In recognition of Military Appreciation Night, both the Pirates and Cubs will wear the digital camouflage jerseys originally worn on Memorial Day 2014. All Pirates players and coaches will autograph their game-worn camo jersey following the game and these jerseys will be available for auction.

Fans will have the opportunity to bid on the Pirates autographed, game-worn black jerseys with the specially designed digital camouflage lettering and numbering. Bids for the autographed jerseys will be open from 5:30 p.m. June 10 through the close of business on Wednesday, June 11 (5 p.m. ET) at pirates.com/rootsportsauction.

Fans will also have the opportunity to purchase VIP and VIP-PLUS Bags for a donation of $150 and $550 respectively. The Pirates Charities/ROOT SPORTS bags will include a baseball autographed by an individual Pirates player, a baseball autographed by a Pirates World Series hero, an exclusive New Era adjustable "camo P" cap, a ticket voucher good for 2 tickets to for a 2014 Pirates baseball game, and a Pirates t-shirt.
