Logan Morrison activated from 15-day disabled list

Justin Smoak placed on 15-day disabled list with strained left quad.

Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jack Zduriencik announced the following roster moves:

  • Logan Morrison, 1B/OF, recalled from rehab assignment and activated from the 15-day disabled list
  • Justin Smoak, 1B, placed on 15-day disabled list with a strained left quad (retro to 6/10)

Morrison (#20) is starting at first base and batting 5th in tonight's game vs. the New York Yankees (7:10 pm PT).

Morrison, 26, hit .308 (20x65) with 13 runs, 2 doubles, 3 home runs, 8 RBI and a .893 OPS in 18 games during his rehab assignment. He was pulled from April 14th series opener vs. the Rangers prior to the bottom of the 1st inning (in starting lineup in right field) with a strained right hamstring. In 8 games to start the season, he was hitting .150 (3x20).

Smoak, 27, had appeared in Seattle's first 63 games of the season prior to missing last night's game. In 63 games, he is hitting .208 (45x216) with 26 runs, 12 doubles, 7 home runs and 29 RBI this season. Prior to missing last night's game, he had not started four of the previous five games.
