Twins select contract of Yohan Pino

Place Infielder Eduardo Nunez on 15-day Disabled List

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Yohan Pino. In 14 games (7 starts) with Triple-A Rochester, Pino posted a record of 9-1, with a 1.92 ERA (61.0 IP, 13 ER) with 16 walks, 61 strikeouts and two complete game shutouts. His nine wins are tied for the International League lead while his ERA and 0.93 WHIP rank second.

To make room for Pino on the 25-man roster, the Twins have placed infielder Eduardo Nunez on the 15-day disabled list with a right hamstring strain (retro to June 15). To make room for Pino on the 40-man roster, the Twins have transferred right-handed pitcher Mike Pelfrey to the 60-day disabled list.

Pino will be making his major league debut tonight against the Chicago White Sox. He will wear uniform number #63.
