Diamond of Dreams Highlights Homestand Full of Fantastic Events

KANSAS CITY, MO (June 19, 2014) - As the Kansas City Royals return home to face teams from the West Coast including the Seattle Mariners, Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Angels, Royals Charities will host its biggest event of the year, Diamond of Dreams. Taking place on June 26, the on-field event will benefit Royals Charities and The University of Kansas Hospital's Neonatal Medical Home. In addition, the Royals will take part in other great community events including a Touch Tour (June 24), a field dedication ceremony and clinic (June 25) and the Paul Splittorff Memorial Golf Classic (June 27). Friday, June 20 - Seattle Mariners vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.

·         Stars of the Classroom - The Royals join the Missouri Lottery to honor outstanding educators through the Missouri Lottery Stars of the Classroom recognition program. Prior to six Royals games throughout the season, the Missouri Lottery and the Royals celebrate the achievements of top teachers from six school districts in the metro area.

 

Saturday, June 21 - Seattle Mariners vs. Royals, 1:10 p.m.

 

Sunday, June 22 - Seattle Mariners vs. Royals, 1:10 p.m.

  •          Royals Alumni Autograph Session - Fans have the opportunity to meet former Royals prior to each Sunday home game in the Royals Hall of Fame. Two Royals Alumni members will sign autographs for fans from 12:15 p.m. to game time.

·         UMPS CARE - The Royals partner with Major League Baseball umpires to offer memorable baseball experiences for children awaiting adoption and at-risk youth in mentoring programs. The children receive a VIP experience including complimentary tickets, a baseball goody bag, and the unique opportunity to step onto the field for a souvenir baseball and photo.

 

Monday, June 23 - Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.

·         RBI Night - The Royals host participants in the Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) program of Kansas City, Kan., for a special night at Kauffman Stadium. The kids receive complimentary tickets, food and special recognition during the game. A select group of ballplayers will watch batting practice from behind the Royals dugout prior to the game.

·         Royals Charities and MLBPAA Concourse Auction - Royals Charities and the MLBPAA host a silent auction near the Majestic Team Store on the Field/Plaza Level from the time the gates open until the end of the sixth inning.

·         Community Blood Center Night at The K - The Community Blood Center (CBC), the primary supplier of blood and blood components to more than 70 hospitals and medical centers in both Kansas and Missouri, will be recognized during the game. Fans will receive an information flier on summer blood drives as they enter the ballpark. In addition, CBC volunteers and donors will be wearing red shirts in the right field Outfield Box Seats throughout the game. The CBC will host Royals Week at all area blood centers July 7-12, where registered donors can receive two free Royals tickets for appearing to donate. Tuesday, June 24 - Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.

·         Touch Tour with Alphapointe - The Royals partner with Alphapointe to host kids with visual impairments to a pregame tour in the Royals Hall of Fame, batting practice on the field and will get to enjoy that night's game against the Dodgers. The experience will provide an up close perspective for the young fans who enjoy Royals games through different senses. The event will begin at 3:30 p.m. in the Royals Hall of Fame. 

·         50/50 Raffle presented by Edelman & Thompson - A portion of the proceeds from the nightly Royals Charities fundraiser will benefit Harvesters. www.royals.com/5050.

·         Royals Charities and MLBPAA Concourse Auction - Royals Charities and the MLBPAA host a silent auction near the Majestic Team Store on the Field/Plaza Level from the time the gates open until the end of the sixth inning.

 

Wednesday, June 25 - Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.

·         Adaptive Fields Dedication - In partnership with Variety Children's Charity of Greater Kansas City and the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation, the Kansas City Royals and Royals Charities will celebrate the dedication of two adaptive fields for children with disabilities during a special ceremony at McCoy Park, located near Highway 24 and Delaware in Independence, Mo. Festivities are set to begin at 11 a.m. Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr., as well as Royals President Dan Glass and select Royals players, are scheduled to appear at the festivities in support of the projects. In addition to McCoy Park, the group will also be celebrating the completion of a new Olathe Miracle League field located within the College Boulevard Activity Complex. Following the ceremony, the Royals and Baseball Fantasy Camp for Kids will christen the new baseball field by hosting a youth clinic led by Royals players for approximately 40 children with special needs. The clinic is set for 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. 

·         Dream Factory - Throughout the season, the Royals grant the wishes of Dream Factory children. These youngsters, who face life-altering challenges, will meet Royals players, watch batting practice from the dugout and enjoy the game and refreshments. Their Royals experience appears on the KMBC-TV (Channel 9) 10 p.m. newscast.

 

Thursday, June 26 - Off Day

·         Diamond of Dreams: Taking the Field for the University of Kansas Hospital - Royals Charities hosts Diamond of Dreams on the field at Kauffman Stadium beginning at 7 p.m. Proceeds from the event benefit Royals Charities and The University of Kansas Hospital's Neonatal Medical Home. Diamond of Dreams features appearances from current and former Royals, a fabulous menu, an exclusive silent auction in the bullpen, entertainment from the Michael Beers Band and a spectacular fireworks show. Friday, June 27 - Los Angeles Angels vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.

  • Splittorff Memorial Golf Classic - The Royals are proud to support the Paul Splittorff Memorial Golf Classic at Adams Pointe Golf Club in Blue Springs, Mo. The tournament, named in memory of the late Royals Hall of Fame pitcher and broadcaster Paul Splittorff, is set to begin with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Several Royals Alumni, including Jim Eisenreich, Danny Jackson, Marty Pattin and more, are planning to participate. Proceeds will benefit St. Mary's Manor in Blue Springs. ·         Girls Night Out - Calling all ladies! ·         Scott's MLB Pitch, Hit & Run - Young baseball and softball players take the Kauffman Stadium field from 9:30-11 a.m. to compete in the team championship of the Scott's MLB Pitch, Hit & Run competition. 

·         Royals Charities and MLBPAA Concourse Auction - Royals Charities and the MLBPAA host a silent auction near the Majestic Team Store on the Field/Plaza Level from the time the gates open until the end of the sixth inning.

 

Sunday, June 29 - Los Angeles Angels vs. Royals, 1:10 p.m.

  •          Royals Family Lemonade Stand to Benefit Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation - Jamie Gordon, wife of outfielder Alex Gordon, and the Royals Wives and their children will be selling lemonade to raise money for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation. From 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., fans can stop by the Alex's Lemonade Stand in the Outfield Experience to support childhood cancer research.
