Royals prospect Christian Binford named to XM All-Star Futures game roster

Kansas City Royals prospect Christian Binford has been named to the United States roster for the 16th annual SiriusXM Futures All-Star Game. The game, which will feature a U.S. vs. the World format again this year, will begin at 4 p.m. CDT on Sunday, July 13 at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minn.

The game will be televised live on MLB Network and MLB.TV, while audio is available on MLB Network Radio (XM channel 89).

Binford, 21, was named the 10th-best prospect in the Royals' organization by Baseball America prior to this season. The right-handed pitcher is 5-3 with a 2.35 ERA (20 ER in 76.2 IP) in his first 13 starts with Wilmington (A-Advanced), recording 11 walks and 85 strikeouts. He has held the opposition to a .231 average this season and participated in the Carolina League All-Star game last week. Binford was originally selected by the Royals in the 30th round of the 2011 June Free Agent Draft.

Major League Baseball, in conjunction with the MLB Scouting Bureau, MLB.com, Baseball America and the 30 MLB clubs selected 25-man rosters for both the U.S. and World teams.
