Mariners recall right-handed pitcher Brandon Maurer from AAA Tacoma
Right-handed pitcher Erasmo Ramirez optioned to AAA Tacoma.
SEATTLE, Wash. - Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jack Zduriencik announced the following roster move this afternoon:
- Brandon Maurer, RHP, recalled from AAA Tacoma
- Erasmo Ramirez, RHP, optioned to AAA Tacoma
Maurer (#37) will be in uniform and available for tonight's series finale vs. the Boston Red Sox (7:10 pm) at Safeco Field.
Maurer, 23, was 1-0 with three saves and a 2.79 ERA (6 ER, 19.1 IP) with 24 strikeouts in 12 games including one start. This will be his second stint with Seattle this season, going 1-4 with a 7.52 ERA (27 ER, 32.1 IP) with 17 strikeouts in seven starts (April 20-May 30) before being optioned to AAA Tacoma.
Ramirez, 24, was 1-4 with a 4.58 ERA (27 ER, 53.0 IP) with 42 strikeouts in 11 starts over three stints with Seattle this season. Over his last four starts had a 0.90 ERA (2 ER, 20.0 IP) with 14 strikeouts, lowering his ERA from 6.82 to 4.58 during that span. In his previous stint with AAA Tacoma, he was 1-3 with a 4.55 ERA (15 ER, 29.2 IP) with 22 strikeouts. Also made one start with High-A High Desert.
