Rockies place RHP Jhoulys Chacin on 15-day dl

Club Recalls RHP Chad Bettis from Triple-A Colorado Springs

DENVER - The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has placed right-handed pitcher Jhoulys Chacin on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to June 29) with right shoulder inflammation. In addition, the club has recalled right-handed pitcher Chad Bettis from Triple-A Colorado Springs. Bettis (#35) will be available for tonight's Rockies at Nationals game at Nationals Park (5:05 p.m. MDT).

Chacin, 26, has made 11 starts for Colorado this year after missing the first month of the season with a right shoulder strain. He has gone 1-7 with a 5.40 ERA (63.1 ip, 38 er) with five quality starts for the Rockies. On June 12 against Atlanta, Jhoulys became the seventh pitcher in franchise history to hit the 500 strikeouts mark in a Rockies uniform, joining Ubaldo Jimenez, Pedro Astacio, Jeff Francis, Jorge De La Rosa, Jason Jennings and Aaron Cook. The Maracaibo, Venezuela native is a veteran of five Major League seasons (2009-13), all with Colorado. In his Big League career, Chacin is 38-48 with a 3.78 ERA (672.0 ip, 282 er), 280 walks and 514 strikeouts in 124 games/109 starts.

Bettis, 25, will be making his fourth stint with Colorado after opening the season on the Rockies Opening Day roster. In 15 games for Triple-A Colorado Springs, Bettis is 2-2 with 3 saves and a 1.72 ERA (31.1 ip, 6 er), 18 hits, 12 walks and 32 strikeouts. The 6-foot-1 right-hander is 0-1 with a 10.05 ERA (14.1 ip, 16 er) in 13 games for the Rockies this year. In 29 career Major League games, including eight starts, Bettis is 1-4 with a 6.71 ERA (59.0 ip, 44 er), 25 walks and 37 strikeouts.

The Rockies currently have a full 40-man roster.
