Rockies Activate LHP Boone Logan from he 15-Day DL

INF Ryan Wheeler Optioned to Triple-A

DENVER - The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has activated left-handed pitcher Boone Logan from the 15-day disabled list and optioned infielder Ryan Wheeler to Triple-A Colorado Springs. Logan (#48) will be available for the Rockies in today's game against the Dodgers at Coors Field (2:10 p.m. MT).

Logan, 29, has been on the disabled list since June 5 (left elbow inflammation) after going 1-1 with a 5.87 ERA (15.1 ip, 10 er), 6 walks and 22 strikeouts in his first season with Colorado. In four rehab games with Triple-A Colorado Springs, he tossed 3.2 innings and allowed one run on two hits with a pair of walks and strikeouts. A veteran of nine Major League seasons, he has seen time with the Rockies, New York Yankees (2010-13), Atlanta (2009) and the Chicago White Sox (2006-08). Over 441 career Major League games, all in relief, the 6-foot-5 left-hander is 25-13 with 2 saves and a 4.46 ERA (319.0 ip, 158 er), 138 walks and 326 strikeouts.

Wheeler, 25, has appeared in 31 games over two stints with Colorado and has seen game action at first and third base while hitting .232 (13-for-56) with 2 doubles, 2 home runs, 13 RBI and 6 runs. He began 2014 at Triple-A, where he has played in 50 games this year, hitting .253 (46-for-182) with 9 doubles, 3 home runs, 16 RBI and 17 runs. In 109 Major League games, he has hit .233 (48-for-206) with 10 doubles, a triple, 3 home runs, 30 RBI and 18 runs.

The Rockies currently have a full 40-man roster.
