Royals Blood Drive Continues through Short Homestand

KANSAS CITY, MO (July 9, 2014) - The Kansas City Royals finish the first half of the season as they return home to host the Detroit Tigers in a four-game series, July 10-13. Continuing from earlier in the week, the Royals will take part in the annual Royals Blood Drive at the Community Blood Center from July 10-12. Additionally, the Royals will highlight several local programs at the ballpark through RBI Night (July 10), Big Game James Section (July 11) and Dream Factory Day at The K (July 13). Thursday, July 10 - Detroit Tigers vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.

  • RBI Night - The Royals host participants in the Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) program of Kansas City, Mo., for a special night at Kauffman Stadium. The kids receive complimentary tickets, food and special recognition during the game. A select group of ballplayers will watch batting practice from behind the Royals dugout prior to the game.
  • Royals Blood Drive - Throughout the week fans can donate blood at area Community Blood Center locations. Any fan who registers to donate will receive tickets to a Royals game and a commemorative Royals t-shirt (while supplies last). To schedule an appointment, visit www.savealifenow.org.  

Friday, July 11 - Detroit Tigers vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.

  • Big Game James Section - Pitcher James Shields, together with the Royals and KCP&L, will host foster care children and their families in the Big Game James Section. Each child from Midwest Foster Care and Adoption Association will receive complimentary tickets in section 206, a "Big Game James" t-shirt and a free meal courtesy of ARAMARK and Papa John's Pizza. The special guests will also participate in a meet-and-greet with Shields prior to the game.
  • Royals Blood Drive - The annual Royals Blood Drive continues at all area Community Blood Center locations. 
  • Royals Charities and MLBPAA Concourse Auction - Royals Charities and the MLBPAA host a silent auction near the Majestic Team Store on the Field/Plaza Level from the time the gates open until the end of the sixth inning.

Saturday, July 12 - Detroit Tigers vs. Royals, 6:10 p.m.

  • Royals Blood Drive - The annual Royals Blood Drive continues at all area Community Blood Center locations. 
  • Royals Charities and MLBPAA Concourse Auction - Royals Charities and the MLBPAA host a silent auction near the Majestic Team Store on the Field/Plaza Level from the time the gates open until the end of the sixth inning.

Sunday, July 13 - Detroit Tigers vs. Royals, 1:10 p.m.

  • Head for the Cure at The K - Head for the Cure at The K! supports the Head for the Cure Foundation, an organization dedicated to raising awareness and funding for brain cancer research. Special game-day packages are available, which includes a discounted Field Plaza ticket, a special Head for the Cure pair of sunglasses and a $5 donation to the Head for the Cure Foundation.   • Dream Factory Day at The K - Children, families and volunteers with Dream Factory will enjoy a special day at Kauffman Stadium where they will get to take part in a special pre-game parade on the field and then watch the game. In addition, friends of the Dream Factory program are invited to purchase special tickets in the Hy-Vee Infield or Field Plaza sections with a portion of the proceeds benefitting Dream Factory.   • Royals Alumni Autograph Session - Fans have the opportunity to meet former Royals prior to each Sunday home game in the Royals Hall of Fame. Two Royals Alumni members will sign autographs for fans from 12:15 p.m. to game time.
  • Royals Charities and MLBPAA Concourse Auction - Royals Charities and the MLBPAA host a silent auction near the Majestic Team Store on the Field/Plaza Level from the time the gates open until the end of the sixth inning.
