Dodgers place Chris Perez on 15-day DL, select contract of Carlos Frias

Maholm transferred to 60-day DL

LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Dodgers today placed right-hander Chris Perez on the 15-day disabled list with a right ankle injury (bone spurs) and selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Carlos Frias from Triple-A Albuquerque. To create room on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers transferred left-handed pitcher Paul Maholm (right ACL tear) to the 60-day disabled list.

Frias, 24, has combined to go 10-5 with a 4.58 ERA in 21 games (20 starts) with Double-A Chattanooga and Triple-A Albuquerque this year. The native of the Dominican Republic, who is making his first appearance on a 40-man roster, was a non-roster invitee to the club's 2014 Spring Training camp and made four appearances in Cactus League play. Frias will wear jersey no. 77.

Perez, who has limited left-handers to a .211 average this year (12-for-57), has made 42 relief appearances for the Dodgers.
