Padres host Rockies for tenth homestand

Homestand highlighted by RBI program recognition and San Diego Fire-Rescue First Responders Salute

The Padres return home Monday for a three-game series against the Colorado Rockies. Highlights of the brief homestand include recognition of the San Diego Padres RBI program, as well as a First Responders Salute presented by GovX.

Home action begins tonight, with a 7:10 p.m. start against the Rockies. Before the game, Benj Gershman, bassist for the American rock band O.A.R., will throw the Ceremonial First Pitch.

Also prior to tonight's game, the Padres will recognize more than 700 youth baseball and softball players who participated in the 2014 San Diego Padres RBI program, a free-12 week baseball league. The kids will be recognized on-field prior to the game, while program administrators will be honored at home plate during the pregame ceremony.

RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities) is a MLB initiative, designed to increase participation and interest in baseball and softball among underserved youth. It also encourages academic participation and achievement and teaches the values of teamwork and inclusion. San Diego Padres RBI is a partnership between the Padres and the San Diego Hall of Champions. In 2014, the program grew to more than twice the size it was in 2013, and for the first time included players ages 13-18 participating in both baseball and softball leagues.

Taco Tuesday presented by Cholula Hot Sauce returns Tuesday, featuring $1 pollo asado street tacos sold at six locations throughout the ballpark. An additional location features gluten-free $1 street tacos.

Prior to Tuesday's game, the club will highlight the service and sacrifice of San Diego first responders in partnership with GovX. The fourth of six First Responders Salutes this season will recognize San Diego Fire-Rescue and County of San Diego EMS. Rob Rezende of San Diego Fire-Rescue will perform the National Anthem. In addition, the Padres Foundation, in partnership with GovX, will present the San Diego Fire-Rescue Foundation with a $10,000 donation. San Diego Fire Chief Javier Mainar will throw the Ceremonial First Pitch. The homestand wraps up on Wednesday with a 3:40 p.m. start. As part of a Membership Business Networking event, up to 50 local businesses that hold Padres Business Memberships presented by Silvergate Bank, will have the opportunity to take part in a public networking event at Park at the Park from 1:00 p.m. until the conclusion of the game.

Tickets for all home games can be purchased at the Petco Park box office, online at www.padres.com, by phone at 619.795.5555, at the Padres Store in Tijuana, and at all Ticketmaster locations.
