Chevron STEM ZONE exhibit to be on display at the O.co Coliseum Saturday, Aug. 23

During the A's vs. Los Angeles Angels game on Saturday, Aug. 23, the Chevron STEM ZONE-an interactive exhibit that explores the scientific concepts behind the game of baseball-will be on display at the O.co Coliseum for fans of all ages to enjoy.

The STEM ZONE will be set up behind sections 201 and 217 during Saturday's game, which will also feature Disney•Pixar's The Incredibles Fireworks Show presented by Chevron. Fans with a game ticket can explore the STEM ZONE free of charge.

The Chevron STEM ZONE helps to excite students (as well as parents, teachers and other visitors) about science, technology, engineering and math by showing some of the real world applications of STEM-such as basic principles of gravity and aerodynamics-and creating awareness of how STEM is connected to everyday lives. The STEM ZONE is part of the larger "Science of the Game" program, a unique educational program initiated by Chevron and the A's that deepens interest and understanding of science among Bay Area youth through baseball.

"Chevron supports STEM education initiatives because these skills are essential to the success of our company and the vitality of our communities, particularly here in the Bay Area," said Rhonda Morris, Vice President of Downstream & Chemical Human Resources at Chevron. "By partnering with the Oakland A's on hosting the STEM ZONE, a part of Science of the Game, we can help bring science to life and show kids its application in the real world."

In addition to the STEM ZONE being open to all fans in attendance at Saturday's game, Chevron and the A's will host more than 100 youth from Richmond Police Activities League (RPAL) and will escort them through the STEM ZONE to further excite students on STEM subjects by showing its real-world applications.

More information about the STEM ZONE can be found at athletics.com/science, while tickets for upcoming A's games can be purchased at athletics.com/tickets.
