Twins select left-handed pitcher Aaron Thompson

The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have selected the contract of left-handed pitcher Aaron Thompson from Triple-A Rochester. Thompson had a record of 3-3, with a 3.98 ERA (52.0 IP, 23 ER), 26 walks, 51 strikeouts and three saves in 46 appearances with the Red Wings this season. The 27-year-old, who was originally drafted by the Florida Marlins in the first round (22nd overall) of the 2005 First-Year Player Draft, signed with the Twins as a minor league free agent prior to the 2012 season.

Thompson, who will replace the recently claimed Samuel Deduno on the 25-man roster, will wear uniform number 64.
