Nationals Recall INF/OF Jeff Kobernus

The Washington Nationals today recalled INF/OF Jeff Kobernus from Syracuse of the Triple-A International League. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.

Kobernus joins the Nationals for the first time this season after hitting .264 with a .347 on-base percentage in 73 Minor League games. After recovering from a fractured left hand suffered in early April, Kobernus returned to the Chiefs' roster on June 25 and hit .257 with a .338 on-base percentage in 59 games at Triple-A.

The speedy Kobernus stole 15 bases at Triple-A, and 24 total this season across the Minor Leagues. He was caught only four times.

In 2013, Kobernus appeared in 24 games for the Nationals and hit .167 with a .306 on-base percentage. He walked five times, stole three bases and hit one home run (June 18 at Philadelphia).

The addition of Kobernus gives the Nationals 32 players on their active roster.
