2015 Milwaukee BBWAA Award winners announced

Five Different Players Earn Team Honors

MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Brewers announced their postseason award winners today as voted by members of the Milwaukee Chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America (BBWAA). A total of seven ballots were cast for each award, assigning five points for first place, three for second and one for third.

Right fielder Ryan Braun earned Brewers Most Valuable Player with all seven first-place votes (35 points). Braun, who has now won the award three times (also 2011-12), batted .285 with 25 HR, 84 RBI and 24 stolen bases in 140 games. He was selected to his sixth All-Star Game. He produced his fourth career 20/20 season and ranked among the National League leaders in stolen bases (T8th) and slugging percentage (9th, .498). First baseman Adam Lind (19 points) finished second in voting with six second-place votes and one third-place vote.

Francisco Rodriguez was voted Brewers Most Valuable Pitcher, earning all seven first-place votes (35 points). Rodriguez went 1-3 with a 2.21 ERA and 38 saves in 60 appearances. His 38 saves tied for fifth in the National League. He was selected to his sixth All-Star Game. Rodriguez, who produced his seventh season of 35+ saves (also 2005-09 and 2014), now ranks seventh on the all-time Major League saves list (386). Jeremy Jeffress (14 points) and Jimmy Nelson (11) finished second and third, respectively.

Adam Lind (31 points) earned Brewers Top Newcomer ahead of pitcher Taylor Jungmann (22). Lind received five first-place votes and two second-place votes. Acquired from Toronto last November 1 in exchange for pitcher Marco Estrada, he batted .277 with 20 HR and a team-leading 87 RBI in 149 games. Lind earned Brewers Player of the Month honors for both April (21g, .333, 4hr, 13rbi) and June (26g, .326, 3hr, 19rbi).

Jeremy Jeffress (24 points) took home Brewers Unsung Hero honors ahead of fellow reliever Will Smith (15). Jeffress received four first-place votes, a second-place vote and a third-place vote. He went 5-0 with a 2.65 ERA in 72 appearances this season, posting a sterling 1.40 ERA over his last 25 outings (25.2ip, 4er).

Jonathan Lucroy received all seven first-place votes (35 points) to capture his third consecutive Good Guy Award. Three players received votes with pitcher Kyle Lohse (14 points) and second baseman Scooter Gennett (12) finishing second and third, respectively.
